FLO Artists Izabella Gozzo, Alexandra Sanchez, Conor Brereton, Steven Warnock and Nicholas Williams with pianist Gina Lee performed FLO's first commissioned children's' opera by Larry Hensel Too Many Notes! in Rochester area schools.
SOPRANO
Pennsylvania native, Mary Fetterman, has been praised for her "lovely lyric soprano voice." She most recently was a Choral Fellow at the Spoleto USA 2025 Festival. There, she was in the chorus of Massenet's Thaïs, Kodály's Missa Brevis with the Limón dance company, and Bach's B Minor Mass. Last Winter, she performed the soprano solos in the first half of Händel's Messiah with Peachtree Road UMC in Atlanta, and in November, received an Encouragement award from the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition Utah District.
With Buffalo Opera Unlimited, Fetterman performed the role of Susanna in Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro and Bea in an "entirely grossing" production of Jake Heggie's Three Decembers. In March '26, she will portray the role of Violetta in BOU's Opera on Tap rendition of La Traviata. Her concert works include the soprano solos in Haydn's Lord Nelson Mass, Ethel Smyth's Mass in D, and Johannes Brahms' Ein Deutsches Requiem with the Eastman Symphony Orchestra. In May 2024, Fetterman graduated from the Eastman School of Music with her Master's Degree in Voice Performance. Her Eastman Opera Theater roles include Der Komponist in Ariadne auf Naxos, Morgana in Händel's Alcina, and a cover role of Blanche in Dialogues des Carmélites by Poulenc. Also at Eastman, she placed third in the Friends of Eastman Opera Competition in February 2024. Mary is a former singer with the Viva Bach Peterborough Festival, Lyric Opera Studio Weimar, the Lindsey Christiansen Art Song Festival, and the COOPERAtive program.
SOPRANO
Rachel Magil is a lyric coloratura soprano from Rochester, New York. She made her role debut this summer as Lauretta in Noa Naamat’s new production of Gianni Schicchi, with the
Netherlands Lyric Opera Festival, hosted by Opera Zuid. She also performed Mabel in a scene from Gilbert & Sullivan’s Pirates of Penzance with the Eastman Community School of Music at Kilbourn Hall. She was an apprentice artist with Sarasota Opera where she covered the role of Berta in Il Barbiere di Siviglia and also sang in the ensemble for their 2025 winter season productions (Cavalleria Rusticana, Pagliacci, Le Nozze di Figaro, Stiffelio). At the end of 2024,
she performed a recital for the Opera Guild of Rochester alongside tenor Mark Daniels, accompanied by Rob Goodling. Prior to that she performed in Buffalo Opera Unlimited’s production of Le Nozze di Figaro. Rachel also participated in the Rochester Summer Opera with Eastman School of Music and performed in their annual “Opera Under The Stars” concert, where she played Musetta in the famous quartet scene from La Bohème.
Past engagements include debuting Norina in Don Pasquale with Taconic Opera (2024) and debuting the title role of Violetta Valéry in La Traviata, with the Mediterranean Opera Studio & Festival in Sicily (2023). She was a participant of the “dall’Aria all’audiZione” program in Vercelli, Italy where she worked with a prestigious faculty and performed Juliette’s Waltz with the Italian Academy Orchestra at Teatro San Carlo, Arona. She also performed Gilda’s “Caro nome” at the Teatro Civico di Vercelli. Rachel served as a Young Artist at the Trentino Music Festival in Mezzano, Italy in the summer of 2022, where she studied with soprano Chelsea Bonagura. She performed the role of Papagena in their production of Die Zauberflöte. In addition, she covered the role of Pamina.
This summer Rachel will be reprising the role of Violetta in La Traviata at the Molise Vocal Academy in Italy. Rachel holds a Bachelor’s degree in vocal performance from Ithaca College.
SOPRANO
Originally from Mechanicsburg, PA, soprano Sofia Mains is currently pursuing her Bachelors of Music at the Eastman School of Music, where she studies with Katherine Ciesinski.
Sofia recently made her role debuts as Barbarina (Le Nozze di Figaro) at the Wiener Festspiele, Papagena/First Spirit (The Magic Flute) with Arizona Lyric Theatre, and Jeannette (cover)/Chorus (L’amant anonyme) with Finger Lakes Opera. Her concert work includes the Soprano Solo in Nach dir, Herr, verlanget mich (BWV 150) and as Ostiara in Le Reniement de St. Pierre (Charpentier) at Eastman School of Music. Sofia is passionate about community outreach and citizen artistry. She is one of Finger Lakes Opera’s Outreach Artists and has worked with Washington National Opera to introduce preschool students to opera.

TENOR
Rochester-based tenor Daniel Kamalić has been praised for his “silver-toned” (Chris Ruel, OperaWire), “big, stunning voice” (Chris Buchanan, Berkshire Fine Arts). Local audiences may remember him as Rodolfo in La Bohème and Mr. Gobineau in The Medium with Buffalo Opera Unlimited, Danilo (cover) and St. Brioche in The Merry Widow with Geneva Light Opera, Borsa and Marullo (covers) in Rigoletto with Finger Lakes Opera, and the tenor soloist in Carmina Burana with Rochester Lyric Opera / New York State Ballet. His performances further from home last season included Rinuccio in Gianni Schicchi with Opera West in Santa Fe, Sam in Susannah with Delaware Valley Opera, Anthony in Sweeney Todd with Opera51 in Boston, and Uziahu in the world premiere of Yehudit at Hebrew Union College. Upcoming: Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni with New York Opera Forum, Fenton (cover) and Bardolfo in Falstaff with Opera51, and Basilio and Curzio (covers) in Le Nozze di Figaro with Finger Lakes Opera.

TENOR
Tenor Xuyue Qing made his American operatic debut in the 2017/18 season as Normanno in Lucia di Lammermoor and has since been active in operatic and concert performances throughout the United States. His operatic repertoire includes Mr. Splinter in The Tenderland, Malcolm in Macbeth, Alfred in Die Fledermaus, Chevalier de la Force in Dialogues des Carmélites, Don José in Carmen. On the concert stage he has appeared as tenor soloist in Ethel Smyth’s Mass in D. Xuyue has received notable recognition in major vocal competitions, including being a semi-finalist in the 66th Washington International Competition, winning First Place at the Ohio NATS Competition with the Fine Singing Award in Honor of Richard Miller, and receiving the Albert Rees Davis Award at the S. Livingston Mather Scholarship Competition. In 2025, he joined Central City Opera, where he performed summer operas and a solo recital.
BARITONE
Baritone Jack Leslie is in his junior year of undergraduate studies at the Eastman School of Music where he is a dual major in Voice Performance and Music Theory. With Eastman Opera Theatre, he has performed Golaud in Impressions de Pelléas, Frank (cover) and Chorus in Die Fledermaus. Jack is also an active conductor in orchestral, choral, and operatic settings. He maintains an active concert schedule with his own chamber orchestra. In concert, he has recently performed Die Schöne Müllerin and the Bass soloist (cover) in Bruckner’s F minor Mass. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with friends, cooking, or watching Formula 1.
BARITONE
Darrin John Nicholson II, a Baritone from Nashville, TN is currently a Sophomore at the Eastman School of Music, studying Music Performance under Professor Robert Swensen. Darrin was most recently seen as Luther Harlow, in the Eastman Opera Theater production of In a Grove. He spent the summer of 2025 studying in Italy under some of the most prominent performers and educators in the world. His solo performances include Bach Cantata BWV 90 (Bass Solo), Mozart Solo Missa Brevis KV 192 (Bass Solo), a featured soloist for 5 mystical songs by Ralph Vaughan Williams at Third Presbyterian Church and the invited student performer for the 49th Annual William Warfield Scholarship Fund Concert. He is a member of the Eastman Chorale under Director William Weinert and is a part of the choir at St. Annes Church.

Partnering with the Days of Life Foundation, Finger Lakes Opera presented a free Christmas Concert featuring baritone Holden Turner and pianist Érico Bezerra singing holiday favorites!
FLO Young Artists performed a familiar tale with a musical twist! Adapted by John Davies, Pinocchio features music by Mozart, Offenbach, Donizetti, Sullivan, Pergolesi, and Verdi. This performance was directed by Emily Cuk and featured Erika Vasallo (2022 YA), Matthew Campisi (2020 YA), Starletta Noll-Long (2019 YA), Anders Namestnik (2019 YA), and Robert Riordan (2020-2021 YA).
Presented with support from the Joseph Avenue Arts & Culture Alliance, and featuring soprano Starletta Noll-Long (2019 YA) and pianist Érico Bezzera, this Spooky Celebration showcased fantastical and sometimes spooky songs. Audience members were encouraged to dress up in costumes!
Finger Lakes Opera was pleased to be a part of Brockport's Winter Serenades in 2022. Jordan Bachmann (2018 YA), Starletta Noll-Long (2019 YA), and pianist Kevin Nitsch presented a recital of popular arias and show tunes.
